长期从事力学以及力学在机械工程、土木工程和材料科学中的基础应用研究,现任法国巴黎东部大学一级教授、法国国家科学研究中心 (CNRS) 力学实验室主任,领导一个由5位正教授、11位副教授和助理教授、26位博士研究生和博士后研究人员所组成的研究团队。现担任国际知名研究机构法国原子能委员会(CEA)和世界500强企业法国电力公司 (EDF) 、阿海珐公司 (AREVA) 的科技顾问。近年来,先后主持包括欧洲重大研究项目(COST 314)在内的科研项目近20项,累计科研经费近三百万欧元;作为博士生导师,现已培养毕业13名博士,8名博士已成为欧洲高校或国际知名企业 (如 EDF, Lafarge, Arcelor Mittal) 的教授或科研骨干。本人于2000年、2004年和2008年连续三次获得四年一届的法国高等教育与研究部优秀研究人员和博士导师奖。
所获得的科技创新成果涉及接触力学、摩擦学、损伤力学、连续介质力学、复合材料力学、细观力学、纳米材料力学、生物力学、水泥基材料、玻璃结构工程和核废料处理等领域,累计发表SCI收录论文60余篇,其中绝大多数论文都发表在国际相关领域重要刊物,如在Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids(44种力学国际期刊中影响因子排名第3位)发表5篇、在International Journal of Solids and Structures(同上,排名第11位)发表7篇。所取的多项源创新成果得到了国际同行的公认并被多篇权威专著引用或正面评述,为丰富和发展应用力学作出了重要贡献。例如,首次获得了板孔和入孔针之间的单边协调接触问题的解析解,国际固体与结构学报主编、牛津大学D.A. Hills教授认为该结果解决了困扰接触力学领域四十多年来一个难题;第一次建立了两个大变形固体的单边接触方程并且证明了其解的存在性,对此原创性成果,国际著名力学专家P. D. Panagiotopoulos教授在美国数学学会的“Mathematical Reviews”进行了重点介绍; 建立了一个接触运动与摩擦模型,该成果被国际著名的Springer出版社出版、P. Wriggers教授所著的«Computational Contact Mechanics » 权威专著用长达两页面进行大篇幅介绍。
所掌握的核心技术已成功应用于解决工业中一些重要实际问题。比如,通过与法国原子能委员会(CEA)、法国电力公司(EDF)合作,建立了一个有效的多尺度模拟混泥土材料化学-力学耦合特性的方法并解决了核废料处理中混泥土结构耐久性难题;与法国建筑科技中心 (CSTB) 的合作,为解决钢化玻璃结构中摩擦盘连接和针载连接的关键问题,提出和发展了一个试验和数值相结合的系统方法,为创建欧盟玻璃结构规范作出了重要贡献。 曾应邀国际固体力学著名刊物 Mechanics of Materials 专辑的客座主编,领导召开多次国际学术会议,长期担任多个西方国家的自然科学基金评审专家、众多本领域国际一流学术期刊的定期特邀评委、Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica等国际期刊编委。
